Enthusiasm, fervour marks Gandhi Jayanti celebration across District Kishtwar

Gandhi Jayanti Celebration: Distt Admin B’pora kick starts Project – WASH

Kishtwar: The District Kishtwar witnessed array of activities to mark the celebration of 154th Gandhi Jayanti, with a mega program held in the Government High Secondary School Boys, a valedictory function at Government Degree College and special Gram Sabhas at 136 Panchayats.
At GHSS Boys Kishtwar, a simple yet impressive program unfolded to commemorate the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and LalBahadurShastri.
The event commenced with the administration of the Non-Violence pledge to students from different government and private schools, including the host school, GHSS Girls, SDM Public School, BalNiketanSchool and IslamiaFaridia School besides the staff of Educational Institutions and Municipal Council.
The guests at the event included ADDC, Sham Lal; Chairman Municipal Council, Sajjad Ahmed Najjar; District Panchayat Officer, Sunil Bhutyal, Chief Education Officer PrehladBhagat and Principal HSS Boys.
The attendees, alongside school staff and CEO office members, paid a floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
The program also featured engaging performances by students, including skits, patriotic songs and a thought provoking speech on the philosophy and teachings of Truth, Non-Violence, and Swachhta Hi Seva, inspired by Gandhi Ji.
Addressing the gathering, the ADDC emphasised the relevance of Gandhi Ji’s philosophy in today’s society. He termed the event as an opportunity for students to understand and imbibe Gandhian principles into their lives.
In the valedictory speech, the CEO expressed gratitude to all contributors and encouraged students to uphold truth and non-violence.
The participating students were also felicitated on the occasion. The Chairman MC took a moment to honor sanitation workers from the Municipal Council, recognizing them as true followers of Gandhian principles of cleanliness.
Meanwhile, at Government Degree College Kishtwar, the valedictory function was held under the patronage of Principal GDC Dr. JyotiParihar. organising, marking the end of fortnightly activities organized from September 12th to October 1st.
Mukesh Bali, District Officer Pollution Control Committee attended as the Chief Guest and Prof. MM Mattoo as guest of Honour. The students displayed their talent by singing patriotic songs and reciting poems.
The program included a prize distribution ceremony to acknowledge outstanding performances of students during the 15-day celebration of Gandhi Jayanti.
Similarly, special Gram Sabhas were held across all 136 Panchayats in the district facilitated by Panchayat secretaries and PRIs. The community discussions revolved around finalizing Gram Panchayat Plans for the next financial year besides taking nonviolence pledge and paying of floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.
Besides this Gandhi Jayanti celebrations were held across the government and private institutions and the government offices with cleanliness activities and paying of floral tributes and remembering the philosophy and teachings of Gandhi ji.
An Awareness campaign under the supervision of Dr. M.Y Mir, Chief Medical Officer, was held in the premises of Mini Secretariat New DC Complex.
The CMO flagged off the KushtMuktAbhiyanRath to spread awareness amongst the general masses regarding Leprosy. The CMO exhorted field functionaries to keep generating awareness in the general public regarding Leprosy and to maintain close surveillance for early detection and treatment of leprosy.
Pamphlets containing information about KushtMukhtAbhiyan were also distributed amongst the field functionaries and the general masses.
