Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has booked four most wanted and notorious drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla and lodged them in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the four most wanted and notorious drug smugglers identified as Muzamil Majeed Bhat @ Hashim R/o Mohalla Mir Sahib Old Town, Showkat Ahmad Sheikh R/o Umerabad Srinagar, Hayat Ahmad Bhat R/o Kawoosa Budgam & Bashir Ahmad Sheikh R/o Palpora Pattan have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority.
Stating that the booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu, Police in it’s statement further said that many a cases were registered against these drug smugglers for being involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Mohura Heewan, Bandipayeen Chandoosa, Khambiyar Pattan and other areas of District Baramulla, adding therein that despite their involvement in many FIR’s they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police said that people of the area have appreciated its action against drug peddlers and reiterated it’s commitment to to keep society free from drug abuse.
