Srinagar: Police in Awantipora on Tuesday organized an awareness programme /rally against drug abuse. The event was attended by students, staff members of Higher Secondary School Chersoo and respectables of the area.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, the awareness rally was flagged off by SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti along with Incharge Police Post Toll Plaza from Higher Secondary School Chersoo. The rally passed through various routes of Sub-division Awantipora and culminated near Chersoo.
The main aim of the awareness programme/rally was to spread awareness about ill effects of drug abuse and its consequences. During the event, SDPO Awantipora appealed the general public to join hands with Police in fighting against the abuse of drugs & related substances to eliminate this social evil from the society. Students/participants were holding banners and placards in their hands with the messages against drug abuse and raised slogans against the social evils and pledged to join their hands to eradicate this menace from the society.
