Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has done a commendable action at Pulwama against anti-national activities by arresting a social media user who was inciting the general public and promoting terror activities.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that it has come to light that an individual was running a fake social media account with the name “Pulwama News” and was involved in uploading videos and pictures of militants killed in the Kokernag encounter, adding therein that this account was created to promote the activities of the militants and spread fear among the general public, which posed a severe threat to the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 98/2023 under relevant sections of law and has initiated further investigation into the case, Police in its statement also said that during the course of investigation, the accused identified as Ashiq Ahmad Khan S/o Bashir Ah Khan R/o Niloora Khan Mohalla has been arrested for carrying out such unlawful activities, besides, the investigation of the case is going on.
In the concluding para of it’z above quoted statement Police appealed people to remain vigilant and cooperate with it to nab the miscreants who are inimical to the peace and tranquility, adding therein that police and people stand together in the fight against militancy and will continue to work towards a peaceful, safe and prosperous future for all citizens.
