Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested 2 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Palhallan headed by IC Police Post Palhallan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan at a checkpoint established at Palhallan Morh arrested a drug peddler identified as Mohd Lateef Teli S/o Mohd Yousuf R/o Wussan Pattan and during search, 110 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession.
Police in its above statement further said that in a similar action, a police party of Police Post Mirgund at a checkpoint established at Odina Mirgund, arrested a drug peddler identified as Mohammad Jamal Ahanger S/o Gh Mohammad Ahanger R/o Yakhmanpora Pattan and during search, 5.6 Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from his possession, adding therein that both the drug peddlers have been shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody.
Stating that the police registered cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and initiated investigations Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reassured people to act tough against the criminals as per law.
