Srinagar/Sept,28: National Investigation Agency (NIA) has summoned independent legislator and Awami Ittehad Party chairman Er Rasheed to its headquarters, sources said.
They said that Rasheed has been asked to present himself on October 3 when he would be quizzed.
The NIA had registered a case on May 30 to probe alleged cross-border funding to sponsor unrest in the valley.
The NIA has arrested 10 people so far in connection with its probe. They include Altaf Ahmed Shah, the son-in-law of Syed Ali Geelani, and prominent businessman Zahoor Watali.
Geelani’s close aides Ayaz Akbar, who is also the spokesperson of the Hurriyat (G), and Peer Saifullah have also been arrested.
Others arrested are Shahid-ul-Islam, spokesperson of the Hurriyat (M), Mehrajuddin Kalwal, Nayeem Khan, Farooq Ahmed Dar alias ‘Bitta Karate’, photo-journalist Kamran Yusuf and Javed Ahmed Bhat.
During the in-camera proceedings, District Judge Poonam Bamba on Wednesday extended the judicial custody of Aftab Hilali Shah alias Shahid-ul-Islam, Ayaz Akbar Khandey, Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bitta Karate, Nayeem Khan, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Raja Mehrajuddin Kalwal, and Bashir Ahmad Bhat alias Peer Saifullah until October 17.
