Ganderbal, Oct 1: Students of the Faculty of Forestry at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), Benhama, Ganderbal, continued their peaceful protest for the 11th consecutive day, while their hunger strike entered its third day, against the proposed recruitment rules and eligibility criteria for the post of Forester in the J&K Forest Department.
The protest is being held in response to the Draft Recruitment Rules concerning the proposed eligibility criteria for direct recruitment to the post of Forester.
The protesting students appealed to the government to reconsider and amend the proposed recruitment rules, demanding that candidates holding a degree in Forestry be given exclusive eligibility for the post of Forester and other forestry-related examinations.
The students said the proposed changes could affect the career prospects of those who have pursued professional education in Forestry. They urged the government to protect the interests of Forestry graduates and ensure that their specialised qualifications are given due consideration in the recruitmen t rules.
