Altaf Bukhari inaugurates renovated public parks in Amira Kadal Constituency

Srinagar: Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari Wednesday inaugurated various renovated Public parks in different parts of Amira Kadal Constituency which were damaged in devastating floods in September 2014.

The Minister inaugurated Sheri-e-Kashmir Park near General Post Office, which was renovated at an estimate cost of Rs 94.4 lakh. The renovation includes earth filling, restoration of damaged grill fencing, stone pitching around Chinar trees and other related works.

He was accompanied by Director Floriculture, Mohammad Hussain Mir. On the occasion, Minister was informed that the nearby Heritage building in the park has been abandoned, to which Bukhari ordered renovation keeping in view its heritage value, for further use.

On his visit to Polo Ground Park, the Minister inaugurated fountain which have been established at an estimated cost of Rs 18.73 lakh. He also inaugurated the upgraded Dhalia garden for which the fencing has been done at the cost of Rs 14.5 lakh.

The Dhalia garden which was established on 20 Kanals of land posses 15000 bulbs from 12 varieties of dahlia plants.

Inside the Polo Ground park, Bukhari also Inaugurated Office of Floriculture Officer, Mughal Garden; Office of Executive Engineer, Department of Floriculture, Kashmir; Library cum District Floriculture Office, Srinagar.

On the occasion, Minister was informed that the construction of Basket Ball court has been completed and the Badminton court, Cafeteria, Pond, children’s play area and other related things will be developed in the park.

Bukhari said the development of Polo Ground Park will be a great contribution towards Srinagar as the children will benefit from various facilities being made available in this park. He directed the concerned officials to install lighting in the park as the park is visited by scores of people in the late evening hours.

On his visit to Jawahar Nagar, Bukhari inaugurated eight public parks on which the up-gradation work was completed out of 18 parks. The remaining 10 parks are being upgraded and the developmental work on them will be completed soon.

Bukhari said Jawahar Nagar area was the worst hit in the devastating 2014 floods. He said the government under leadership of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is dedicated to provide all the necessary facilities to the people living in the area.

On the occasion, delegation of people from the area met Bukhari and informed him about the various problems faced by the residents there. They also thanked him for resolving drinking water related issue. After giving patient hearing to the people, the Minister promised that he will revisit the area in the coming days and also promised the redress of their genuine grievances.

On his visit to Rajbagh, the Minister inaugurated Mali training School and approves Rs 2 Lakh for its furniture. He also inaugurated Flower Mandi Complex at Directorate of Horticulture where the flower growers had put their products on sale. The Minister interacted with the growers and also brought some flowers.
