Srinagar :, Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, police said that a police party of Police Station Boniyar headed by SHO PS Boniyar under the supervision of SDPO Uri at a checkpoint established at Warikhah Boniyar intercepted a person identified as Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh S/o Bashir Ahmad Sheikh R/o Girdnawa Nowshera and during search, 31 grams of contraband Charas like substance was recovered from his possession, adding therein that the accused had accordingly been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that the police had later accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Boniyar and initiated further investigation into the case.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reassured them that it has been taking all possible measures to curb this menace from society.
