9 gamblers arrested in Pulwama, stake money also seized: Police

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested nine gamblers in Pulwama and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, Police said that acting on specific inputs about presence of gamblers at public sites at Newa and Prichoo Pulwama, the police parties headed by SHO Police Station Pulwama under the supervision of SP Headquarter Pulwama raided the said places and arrested nine gamblers identified as Manzoor Ahmad Khan S/o Ghulam Nabi Khan, Hilal Ahmad Sheikh S/o Abdul Rehman Sheikh, Fayaz Ahmad Wani S/o Ab Razaq Wani, Javaid Ahmad Mir S/o Mohd Akram Mir, Nisar Ahmad Sheikh S/o Abdul Gani Sheikh all residents of Newa Pulwama and Tariq Ahmad Sheikh S/o Ali Mohd Sheikh R/o Chatapora, Bashir Ah sheikh S/o Gh Mohammad sheikh R/o Chatapora, Hilal Ahmad Zargar S/o Ab Rasheed Zargar R/o Malikpora and Haris Bhat S/o Mohd Yousuf Bhat R/o Prichoo on spot.
Police in it’s statement further said that it had also seized stake money of Rs. 72,160/- and playing cards from the possession of the accused who were shifted to police station where they remain in custody and the cases under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Station Pulwama besides which the investigation was also initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
