Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has booked four most wanted drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act in here in Baramulla after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the four accused drug smugglers namely Mohd Naseer Bhatti S/o Nazar Din, Mohd Riyaz Khanday S/o Mohd Sharif both residents of Madiyan Kamalkote Uri, Mohammad Hafeez Abassi S/o Abdul Rashid and Zahid Hussain Abassi S/o Sajawal Khan both residents of Gawhalta Uri have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority, adding therein that booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu.
Police in it’s statement also said that many a cases were registered against these drug smugglers involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Madiyan Kamalkote, Gawhalta Uri and other areas of District Baramulla. Police in it’s statement further said that despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police said that people of the area have appreciated its role for its action against drug smugglers/peddlers. Police on this occasion assured people that it has been making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse.
