2 storied house of Drug Smuggler Attached, Rs. 69.20 lacs seized in Bla: Police

Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has attached two storied house valued about 21.97 lacs and seized cash amounting to Rs 69.20 lacs of drug smugglers under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of NDPS Act 1985in Uri area of Baramulla.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Baramulla Police led by SDPO Uri Shokat Ali under the overall supervision of Divya D SP Hqrs Baramulla attached double storied house valued approximately Rs. 21.97 lacs and also seized Cash Rs. 69.20 lacs belonging to drug smuggler namely Ghulam Rasool Sheikh S/o Abdul Aziz Sheikh R/o Nambla Uri and others after completing all legal formalities, adding therein that the said house was linked to case FIR No. 81/2023 under section 8/21, 29 NDPS Act of Police Station Uri . Police in it’s statement also said “the investigation proved that the said immovable/ movable property was raised from illicit trafficking by the drug smugglers”.
Police in its statement further said that earlier Baramulla Police has attached properties worth 68.65 lacs of drug smugglers which include 2 houses, 3 vehicles and cash to the tune of Rs. 41.72 lacs in Pattan, Kreeri and Kamalkote. Stating SAFEM (FOP) A & NDPSA, New Delhi confirmed attachment of property (Illegal acquired property by drug smugglers) orders of Baramulla Police at Pattan and Kreeri in which house and vehicle was attached, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement said that the people of the area hailed the initiative taken by Police with regard to attachment of moveable/ immovable property which has been raised/used for illicit trafficking by the drug smugglers.
