New Delhi: Ahead of Independence Day celebration, security has been beefed up across the national capital.
The police have taken several safety measures at all the districts to avert any untoward incident.
The police have been keeping its vigilant surveillance at certain hotspots and vulnerable areas. It has enhanced foot patrolling at main roads, crowded market areas and other places to keep check on security arrangements, Delhi Police said.
The para military forces and police personnel have been deployed for foolproof security across the city and intensified police patrolling and deploying extra pickets on strategic points to keep vigil on anti-social elements, police said.
The police have asked people not to use flying objects for security reasons during Independence Day following which sub-conventional aerial platforms like para-gliders, para-motors, hand gliders, unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned aircrafts systems and drones have been prohibited in the national capital till August 16, said Delhi Police.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation from the rampart of Red Fort on Independence Day following which certain restrictions will be imposed at and around the Fort for security reasons, said police.
To facilitate the passengers to attend the Independence Day ceremony on Tuesday, the Delhi Metro train services on all Lines will start from 5 am from all terminal stations. The trains will run with a frequency of 30 minutes on all the Lines till 6 am. After 6 am, Metro trains will run as per the normal timetable throughout the day, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said in a statement.
In view of the security measures adopted on the occasion of Independence Day, parking facilities will not be available at the Delhi Metro stations from 6 am on Monday till 2 pm on Tuesday. However, the Metro train services will continue to run as per normal schedule, it said.
