Srinagar :As a part of public outreach programme and an initiative by Government of J&K, Police on Thursday said that it has organized ‘Thana Diwas’ in Pulwama & Budgam districts.
According to a statement issued from zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, in Pulwama, the programmes were organised at PS Kakapora, PS Litter, PS Rajpora and Govt High School Parigam in district Pulwama. While as in Budgam the programmes were organised at Police Station Budgam, Police Station Charar-i-Sharief and Police Station Magam.
Police in its above statement further said that these meetings were attended by various associations and respectable citizens of the concerned areas. On the occasion, participants highlighted various issues of public importance, and they were assured that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and that of civil administration will be taken up with the concerned departments for early redressal. The programmes were chaired by concerned supervisory officers.
Police in its statement also said that while Chairing officers while speaking on the occasion said that Thana Diwas is an initiative started by the Government of J&K to bridge the gap between Police & Public and also to hear and redress the grievances of common masses. They further added that community policing is mandatory to boost public confidence which would help in fighting against crime and social evils and it was stressed that police will fight against drug abuse and eradicate other social evils from the society.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police said that participants were stressed to cooperate with it in order to maintain law & order besides in society.
