Jammu: “The most prejudiced, unfair and partisan ex- CM Farooq Abdullah batted for Pakistan while speaking during the No-confidence Motion (NCM),” said J&K BJP Spokesman Brig (Retd.) Anil Gupta.
He said that, “Farooq Abdullah challenged Bharat for a war with Pakistan, and also spoke a blatant lie that Maharaja Hari Singh wanted to remain independent.”
“The Independence of India Act 1947 gave only one option to the rulers, join either the Dominion of India or Pakistan. There was no second option. To justify the treachery of his father Sheikh Abdullah, NC has been selling this false narrative since 1948,” Brig Gupta said.
He further said that, “Sheikh infact sent a delegation led by Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad to negotiate with Pakistan which the latter refused to even meet with. Accession of the state was never an issue as far as earlier Muslim Conference and later NC was concerned. The single point agenda was Transfer of Power to Sheikh so that he starts ruling in place of the Maharaja.”
“Accession was delayed by Nehru who insisted on an assurance from the Maharaja about handing over the reins to Sheikh Abdullah. It was the Nehru – Sheikh combine that delayed the accession and acceptance of the Maharaja’s offer to join the Indian Dominion through his Deputy Prime Minister and later through PM Mehr Chand Mahajan,” the BJP spokesman added.
