One-day ational Conference on ‘Bridging the Gap between Science & Arts’ held at GDC D.H Pora

Kulgam: The one-day National Conference on “Bridging the Gap between Science and Arts” was successfully held at Govt. Degree College (GDC) D.H. Pora to explore the interconnectedness and mutual contributions of science and arts in shaping our society and culture.
The conference featured an impressive collection of 42 abstracts, each offering a glimpse into the diverse themes that bridge the gap between science and arts. These abstracts, submitted by scholars and researchers from all over the country, showcased the breadth and depth of knowledge in this interdisciplinary field.
From the exploration of scientific principles through artistic prisms to the utilization of artistic techniques in scientific research, these abstracts provided a captivating overview of the myriad ways in which science and arts converge.
Through a series of thought-provoking presentations and abstracts, attendees were able to delve into the rich tapestry of connections that exist between science and arts. The conference provided an excellent platform for scholars, researchers, and practitioners from various disciplines to engage in meaningful discussions and exchange valuable insights on the integration of science and arts.
The event successfully achieved its objective of bridging the gap between these two domains and emphasized the significance of interdisciplinary approaches in tackling complex societal challenges.
The event comprised three sessions viz. inaugural session, technical session and the valedictory session.
In the inaugural session, Dr. Nadiya Muzaffar, Asssitant Professor Sociology, commenced the session with opening remarks of Dr. Suhaib A. Bandh, the Organizing Secretary of the conference.
Prof. Sharique Zahida Deva, Convenor of the conference and the Principal of the College, delivered the keynote address, setting the tone for the day’s discussions.
Bashir-ul-Hassan, SDM DH Pora, graced the inaugural session as the guest of honor and encouraged the students to work hard to excel in their future endeavors.
The session also featured two insightful plenary lectures by the guest speakers. Prof. Gull Mohammad Wani, Professor Department of Political Science, University of Kashmir delivered an insightful lecture on “Revisiting Social in Social Sciences” and encouraged the students and participants to approach their studies with an open mind, to critically analyze social phenomenon, and to recognize the potential of social sciences in shaping a more just and equitable society.
While Dr. M.A. Shah, Professor Department of Physics, National Institute of Technology, Srinagar delivered an awe-inspiring talk on “Nanotechnology in Our Day-to-Day Life” to raise awareness among students about the transformative potential of nanotechnology and how it influences the world around us.
He encouraged the students to recognize the significance of this rapidly evolving field and its role in shaping a more technologically advanced and sustainable future.
The technical session featured eight thought-provoking presentations covering a diverse range of topics including “Mapping of Universe of Knowledge and Growth of Subjects: A Study”, “Art as a Bridge to Science”, “Sociology and Sciences: A Continuum”, “Life and Culture of Ancient Kashmiri People”, “Solution of Time Fractional Option Pricing Model through Sumudu Transform Iterative Method”, “Mushtaraka Tahzeeb aur Urdu Zabaan-o-Adab”, “Islamic Banking System as an Effective Element of the Economy”, and “Problems of Conflict Victimized Orphans and Community Concerns in Kashmir”,
Dr. Mohammad Ashraf, Senior Assistant Professor Institute of Advanced Studies in Education (IASE) Srinagar conducted the proceedings as the chairperson of the session.
Throughout the session, the Jury, comprising Dr. Javid A. Parray, Assistant Professor HKMGDC Eidgah, and Dr. Javaid Ahmad Dar, Assistant Professor GDC DH Pora, evaluated the presentations and the perspective discussions and adjudged the presentation of Dr. Shahnawaz Ahmad Khanday, Assistant Professor GDC Shopian, as the best paper of the conference.
The valedictory session was graced by Prof. Ezaz Hussain Rizvi, Principal GDC Kulgam, as the Guest of Honor, who in his address stressed on the fact that organizing a conference on such an important theme is an enriching experience for the students, empowering them to play a pivotal role in creating a platform that celebrates the synergy between these two dynamic fields.
He further emphasized that the conference will not only facilitate dialogue but also ignite a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation among all participants.
The session included the presentation of a detailed report by the Organizing Secreatary Dr. Suhaib A. Bandh and concluded with Certificate distribution function.
