Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has booked five drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that five drug smugglers identified as Gulzar Ahmad Ganai R/o Chijhama Rafiabad, Gh Mohi-u-din Dar F/o Ladoora Rafiabad, Waheed Sultan Ganai @Raj Don R/o Shirpora Pattan, Ajaz Ahmad Gojri @Ajaz Mughal R/o Malpora Pattan & Atiqullah Lone R/o Tujjar Sharif Sopore have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, adding therein that the booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jail Jammu.
Police in its statement further said that many a cases were registered against the said drug smugglers for being involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Rafiabad, Ladoora, Chakloo, Binner, Janbazpora, Shirpora Pattan, Malpora Pattan and other areas of district Baramulla, adding therein that despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police said that it has been making all efforts to eradicate social evils from the society.
