Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has seized illicit forest timber in Bandipora district by arresting an accused person involved in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, Police said that while receiving specific inputs about a person namely Nazir Ahmad Beigh S/o Ab Rehman R/o Hakbara Hajin has kept large quantity of illicit forest timber in the lawns of his residential house, a team led by SHO Police Station Hajin raided the particular spot and seized illicit forest timber at the said location, adding therein that the accused was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Stating that police registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Hajin and initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement said that the drive against timber smugglers shall continue to ensure protection of green gold. Police on this occasion assured people that it has been taking every possible step to keep our society free of crime and resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal and anti-social activities.
