Akhil Bharitya Shiksha Samagam, CUK teaching Deptts organise various activities

Srinagar : In connection with the Akhil Bharitya Shiksha Samagam, celebrating 3-Years of the NEP-2020, various departments of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organised events on Thursday.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office Central University of Kashmir, Department of Biotechnology, organized a one-day programme on ‘NEP-2020: A Paradigm Shift in Educational system’ at Science Campus, Nunnar, Asst Prof. Dr. Munazah Qureshi, briefed the audience about the salient features of NEP-2020 and its vision to the 2030 agenda for sustainable development.
Speaking on the occasion, Head Deptt of Biotechnology, Dr. Abid Hamid, highlighted the significance of NEP-2020 and its emphasis on conceptual understanding with experiential learning in creating an immense scope for entrepreneurship and skill development by offering flexibility, creativity and novelty in academic courses in tune with sustainable employment demands. A quiz competition was also organised wherein students from various semesters participated and were enlightened with various aspects of NEP-2020. The participants from 8th semester were declared winners and felicitated with prizes. A ‘Panel Discussion’ followed wherein faculty, scholars and students expressed their thoughts on the theme and had brainstorming discussion on the same. Dr. Owais M. Bhat proposed the vote of thanks.
Department of Chemistry, organised three programmes: skit, cleanliness drive and trekking as part of the celebrations.
Head, Chemistry Deptt, Dr. Abid Hamid Dar, Nodal Officer, Prof. Azra N. Kamili, faculty members from Chemistry and Botany and students from various departments were present.
Dr. Abid Hamid Dar and Prof. Azra N. Kamili highlighted the advantages of NEP-2020. In the skit, students highlighted various positive contours of NEP-2020. Cleanliness drive was also held at the Nunar Campus to develop a sense of responsibility in keeping the surroundings clean. The event was coordinated by Dr. Mohammad Nadeem Lone and Dr. Samiullah Bhat. The students and faculty also went on trekking to a nearby hill and indulged in various activities. The trip was organised to develop an aesthetic sense and attitude of respect among the students and faculty members. The event was coordinated by Dr. Muhammad Sikander Dar & Dr. Sumayah Bashir.
Dr. Rifat Akbar conducted the proceedings and Dr. Ambreen Mushtaq proposed the vote of thanks. The event was reported by Dr. Shahbaz Ahmad Lone.
Department of Kashmiri organised a debate competition titled “NEP-2020: A welcome move to revitalize Mother Tongue,” in Kashmiri language at the arts campus. In this regard, students from various departments participated and exhibited their skills. In the debate competition Yawar Ahmed Shah from the Department of Kashmiri secured first position while Asfar Assad from the same department secured second position. Third position was shared by two students namely Ishfaq Ahmed and Syed Arooba from the Department of MTTM. Sr Asst Prof. Dr Ishrat Bashir distributed the certificates during the event attended by all the faculty members.
