Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two gamblers in Baramulla and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific inputs about the gambling activities near Forest Hut Babareshi Crossing a police party led by Incharge Police Post Babareshi raided the specific spot and arrested the two gamblers on spot who were later identified as Showkat Ahmad Lone S/o Mohd Akbar Lone R/o Qazipora and Shabir Ahmad Dar S/o Ali Mohd Dar R/o Pandithpora Bala Tangmarg.
Stating that stake money of Rs. 10,570/- and play cards were also seized from the possession of the said accused who were accordingly arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tangmarg and further investigation have also been initiated into the case.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police said that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
