Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested six persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in the north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and also seized six vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz assisted by In-charge PP Mirgund seized two vehicles (tractor & tipper) and arrested two drivers identified as Mohd Ashraf Wani S/o Gh Nabi Wani R/o Shirpora Pattan & Shahid Ahmad Wagay S/o Mohd Shafi Wagay R/o Tirgam Sumbal involved in illegal extraction & transportation of minerals at Jheel Bridge Singhpora.
Police in it’s statement further said that in another similar action, a police party of Police Station Pattan, seized four vehicles (2 tippers, 2 tractors) and arrested four drivers identified as Shahid Hussain Dar S/o Mohd Yousf Dar R/o KP Payeen, Ali Mohd Chakan S/o Gh Rasool Chakan R/o Khanpeth Nowgam Sumbal, Ab Rashid Sheikh S/o Ab Rahim Sheikh R/o Manglora Kunzer & Farooq Ahmad Malik S/o Gh Ahmad Malik R/o Tumarhama Tangmarg involved in illegal extraction & transportation of minerals at Zangam Shirpora.
Stating that cases were registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Pattan and further investigation was initiated into the cases, Police
in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed the rightful citizens to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
