3 drug peddlers arrested, contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Awantipora and Baramulla and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Reshipora headed by Incharge Police Post Reshipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora at a checkpoint established at Ladermar Awantipora intercepted a suspicious person, adding therein that during search, 9 Kgs of grinded Poppy Straw was recovered from his possession following which the accused was identified as Parminder Singh S/o Sukhdev Singh R/o Pratap Nagar Amritsar Punjab who was later arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s above referred statement further said that moreover in Baramulla, a Police party of PS Pattan at a checkpoint established at Zangam Pattan, arrested two drug peddlers identified as Hilal Ahmad Sofi @Sheera S/o Gh Nabi Sofi R/o Bazar Mohalla Pattan and Mohd Saleem Sheikh @Maas S/o Ab Rashid Sheikh R/o Malik Mohalla Pattan and during search, recovered 10 syrups of Codeine Phosphate & 315 tablets of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus from the possession of the accused who were later shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that the police has later accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and initiated further investigations into the cases, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned people that it will take strict actions as per law against those indulging in drug peddling activities.
