Drug peddler held in Handwara; Contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Handwara and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Kralgund at a checkpoint established at Kralgund near Eidgah, intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot after noticing police party but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that the accused has been identified as Mohd Amin Bhat @Umar S/o Rayaz Ahmad R/o Kralgund and during searches 40 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession.
Stating that the police has registered a case vide FIR No.49/2023 under relevant sections of law in PS Kralgund and initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that it will act strictly as per law against the people found indulging in drug peddling .
