Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested five persons for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Baramulla and also seized five vehicles .
In a statement issued from Zonal police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Tangmarg under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg seized three vehicles (2 tippers & 1 tractor) and arrested three persons for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Shrai Tangmarg who were later identified as Riaz Ahmad Khan S/o Ab Rashid Khan R/o Gutlipora, Shabir Ahead Chopan S/o Habibullah Chopan R/o Ganiwani & Ashiq Hussain S/o Mohd Arshid Kokhar R/o Check Traren.
Police in it’s statement further said that in an another action a police party of Police Post Mirgund under the supervision of SDPO Pattan seized an excavator, two tippers and arrested two persons for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Kanisuth Mirgund, addring therein that the accused were later identified as Ab Hameed Guroo S/o Mohd Ramzan Guroo & Mushtaq Ahmad Dar S/o Mohammad Yousuf Dar, both residents of Bakshipora Parimpora Srinagar.
Stating that the police has registered the cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
