Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam district and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party headed by SHO Police Station Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Levdoora Crossing intercepted a vehicle (Bus) bearing registration No. JK02BM-4755 with two persons onboard, adding therein that during search of the vehicle, 10 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance filled in the nylon bag found behind the driver’s seat was recovered and the accused were later identified as Rakesh Kumar (Driver) S/o Ball Krishan a R/o Khadi Udhampur and Samraj S/o Bansilal a R/o Dhar road Jammu who were accordingly arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, besides which the vehicle used in commission of crime was also seized.
Stating that police has accordingly registered the case vide FIR No. 116/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Qazigund and initiated further course of investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
