Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar police said that a police party of Police Station Khansahib at a checkpoint established at Yarikhah near Kralpathri crossing intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot after noticing the police party but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during search, 50 grams of Charas like substance and 1.8 Kgs of Bhang Patri was recovered from his possession and the accused was later identified as Ghulam Hassan Sheikh @ Hassan Lali S/o Abdul Gani Sheikh R/o Yarikhah Khansahib following which he was immediately arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 70/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Khansahib and initiated further course of investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that it will act strictly against the people found indulging in drug peddling under law.
