Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has seized illicit timber in Baramulla district and also arrested an accused person involved in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said a police party of Police Station Bijhama led by SHO PS Bijhama under the supervision of SDPO Uri Shokat Ali, arrested a timber smuggler namely Mohd Shafi Dar S/o Ab Razak Dar R/o Lachipora-A Bijhama who was involved in cutting down illicit forest timber and selling at higher rates, adding therein that on the disclosure of the said accused 10 Illicit wooden planks of forest timber were recovered in Bijhama and the said accused was later shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case has been accordingly registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Bijhama and further course of investigation has been also initiated into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement said that the drive against timber smugglers shall continue to ensure protection of green gold and appealed people to take every possible effort to keep society free of crime.
