Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler (Sarpanch) and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Uri Shokat Ali assisted by SHO PS Boniyar at a checkpoint established at Bela Boniyar intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot, but was apprehended and during searches 21grams of Brown Sugar like substances was recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Mohammad Amin Banday (Sarpanch) S/o Anayat Ullah Banday R/o Lari Boniyar.
Stating that police has accordingly registered the case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Boniyar and initiated further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned that it act strictly as per law against the people indulging in drug peddling.
