2 drug peddlers arrested in Shopian, contraband substances & cash recovered

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers and also recovered contraband substance and cash from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party headed by Incharge Police Post Wachi at a checkpoint established at Nadkadal Melhura intercepted two persons riding on a scooty who tried to flee from the spot but were tactfully apprehended by alert police party, adding therein that during search, 10grams of brown sugar like substance and a cash amount of Rs. 1,60,000 (proceeds of narcotics crime) was recovered from their possession following which the said accused were identified as Shahanwaz Ahmad Dar S/o Ab Rashid Dar R/o Tulkhan Bijbehera and Naseer Ahmad Dar S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Dar R/o Turk Tachloo
Stating that the said accused shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that the Scooty used in the commission of crime has also been seized, adding therein that police a case vide FIR number 38/2023 was registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Zainapora and investigation was also initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned people indulging in drug peddling and other anti-social activities that it will act tough against them.
