Police destroys Poppy cultivation in Awantipora

Srinagar : Police in Awantipora on Friday destroyed poppy cultivation spread over vast area of land at Awantipora & Khrew areas.
According to the statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, the police parties of PS Awantipora & PS Khrew led by concerned SHOs destroyed huge quantity of poppy cultivation spread over nearly 11 kanals of land at Lalgam, Peernad, Charligund, Kadlabal and Androosa areas of Awantipora.
Stating that cases have been accordingly registered under relevant sections of law at respective police stations against the illegal poppy cultivators and initiated further investigations into the case, Police in it’s above referred statement advised the people involved in cultivation Poppy or any other narcotic substances anywhere in the valley to destroy the same on their own, failing which they shall face strict action under law.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it and come forward with any information regarding any kind of anti-social activity in their neighbourhood.
