Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and Handwara police districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Kulgam district, a police party headed by SHO police station Kulgam under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam during patrolling at Labripora crossing intercepted a suspicious person identified as Dilber Ahmad Bhat S/o Abdul Razzaq Bhat R/o Labripora, Kulgam and during searches recovered 110grams of Charas like contraband substance and cash amount of Rs 3400/- from the possession of the said accused who was immediately arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that in an another similar action in Handwara district, a police party of Police Post Magam, at a checkpoint established at Khanpora crossing apprehended a suspicious person identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar S/o Gh Hassan R/o New Colony Jagerpora and during searches recovered 80 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession, Police in it’s above referred statement said that the said accused was immediately arrested on spot and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, adding therein that a case under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and further investigation was also initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
