Srinagar : The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that it has solved theft cases in Kulgam district by arresting four accused persons for being involved in the crime and recovered all the stolen property from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Police in Kulgam on May received a written complaint from one Altaf Hussain Mir S/o Ali Mohd Mir R/o Qadirpora, Bungam Kulgam who alleged therein that his vehicle Maruti-800 was stolen by some unknown thieves during the night hours from Astan Gali Kulgam and similarly on 6th May another written complaint was received by Police Station Kulgam from Suhail Ahmad Wagay S/o Gulzar Ahmad Wagay R/o Goripora Mohalla, Kulgam who alleged therein that during the intervening night of 21st and 22nd April unknown thieves had stolen Batteries of his vehicle and other vehicles near Jamia Masjid Kulgam.
Stating that Police accordingly registered cases vide FIR numbers 87/2023 and 91/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Kulgam and investigation was accordingly taken up, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that after taking cognisance of the cases police parties intensified patrolling and surveillance activities to stop these burglaries and accordingly, a team headed by SHO Kulgam under the supervision DySP Hqrs Kulgam was constituted which subsequently made some arrests on suspect basis in these cases. Police in it’s statement furthermore said that four among those arrested confessed their involvement in the commission of crime and were later identified as Mujeeb-ur-Rehman @Faheem Sofi S/o Abdul Rahman Sofi R/o Astan Mohalla Kulgam, Danish Ahmad Ahanger S/o Ghulam Nabi Ahanger R/o Reshipora Kulgam, Bilal Ahmad Dar S/o Ghulam Mohd Dar R/o Redwani Kulgam and Aashiq Hussain Lone S/o Abdul Rashid Lone R/o Naibasti Qaimoh.
Stating that that on the disclosure of the above named accused stolen property including Maruti-800 and 4 batteries were recovered from their possession following which an investigation in the case which is in the progress and more recoveries & arrests are expected in near future, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement said that the people of the area have lauded its for solving the cases within a short span of time and subsequently warned to act tough against individuals involved in any kind of criminal activities.
