Srinagar : Police in Awantipora on Wednesday destroyed poppy cultivation spread over vast area of land in Lethpora area.
According to the statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, a police party led by SHO Police Station Awantipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Bhatti destroyed huge quantity of poppy cultivation spread over nearly about 13 kanals of land at different locations in Lethpora area.
Stating that police has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at Police Station Awantipora against the illegal poppy cultivators and further initiated an investigation into the case.
Police in it’s statement advised people involved Poppy cultivation or any other narcotic substances Awantipora district to destroy the same on their own, failing which they shall face strict action under law. In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed to extend cooperation to it by forwarding any information regarding any kind of anti-social activity in their neighbourhood.
