Drug peddler arrested in Kulgam: Police

Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kulgam on Saturday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police party of PS Devsar during patrolling at Khanabarni Devsar intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee after noticing a police party but was apprehended tactfully, a police spokesman said in a statement issued here on Saturday and identified him as Reyaz Ahmad Wani son of Mohd Sultan Wani resident of Cheyan. Police in it’s statement further said that during searches two Kgs of Grinded Cannabis was recovered from the possession of the said accused who has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, adding therein that accordingly, a case under FIR number 49/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Devsar and investigation has been also initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, adding therein further consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the people that efforts are on keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
