Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has booked a drug smuggler under PIT NDPA Act in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a drug peddler namely Farooq Ahmad Chopan @Beta S/o Ghulam Hassan Chopan R/o Watergam Wagoora Baramulla has been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority and accordingly, the booked drug smuggler has been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu.
Police in it’s above quoted statement said that many cases were registered against the said drug smuggler who was also involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Kreeri and other areas of District Baramulla, adding therein said that despite his involvement in many FIRs, the said accused person did not mend his activities and was again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding anti-social elements in their neighbourhood but warned that people that those found indulging in anti-social activities will be dealt as per law.
