Srinagar: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti , Working President of the opposition National Conference and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and President Jammu & Kashmir Peoples’ Democratic Front (PDF) have in their separate statements welcomed the statement of the union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh regarding various issues confronting the State during his press conference here Monday.
In a statement, the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said the positivity exhibited by the Union Home Minister would go a long way in putting balms on the wounds of the people of the State.
She has welcomed the Home Minister’s statement that the Centre will never undermine the sentiments of the people of Jammu and Kashmir regarding the State’s special status.
Mehbooba Mufti said she has all along maintained that in a positive outreach with all shades of opinion in the State, coupled with compassion, confidence building and coexistence, lies the key of a lasting peace and prosperity for the people of the State, country and the sub continent.
The Chief Minister has also welcomed the announcement of the Union Home Minister of an increase in the Prime Minister’s Developmental Package to around Rs One lakh crore saying it would go a long way in pacing up the developmental revolution in the State.
Reacting to the statement of the Home Minister, former Chief Minister of Omar Abdullah tweeted: “This is a very important statement from the Union Home Minister. His assurance will go a long way towards silencing the noises against 35-A.”Pertinently, an NGO backed by RSS has filed a petition in the Supreme Court of Indian seeking the abrogation of Article 35A, that debars non-state subjects from purchasing land and acquire jobs in Jammu and Kashmir.
Reacting to the statement of the Home Minister Rajnath Singh Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir People Democratic Front and MLA Khansahib, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen welcomed the statement of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh that the BJP-led government at the Centre will not go against the wishes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir on constitutional provisions that guarantee special privileges to the restive state viza viz Art.35A and 370.
In a statement Hakeem said that the views expressed by the Home Minister on the issue of Art.35- A in a press conference at Srinagar would help to end unrest and un certainity among the people and shall go a long way to restore peace in the valley.
“ I assure the government would never take any step which will hurt the sentiments of people of Jammu and Kashmir,’’ said the Union Home Minister Monday during a press conference at Srinagar after conclusion of his three days visit to the state.
Hakeem Yaseen has also hailed the announcement of the Home Minister that involved under age children would not be treated as criminals but would be lodged in juvenile homes to rehabilitate them.
Hakeem Yaseen has hoped the central Government woul similarly tae required Confidence Building Measures CBM to resolve all contentious issues to usher in peace in the state. He had enjoined the central leader ship to resume the process of dialogue and reconciliation with all the stakeholders to bring lasting peace in the continent.
