Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested 6 drug peddlers in Baramulla and Bandipora and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party at a checkpoint established near Rest House Bandi arrested a drug peddler identified as Mohd Owais Mughal S/o Mir Akbar Mughal R/o Bandi Uri and during searches recovered 38 grams of Brown Sugar from his possession following which the said accused was shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a police party of PP Delina at a checkpoint established at Main Market Delina arrested two drug peddlers identified as Muzamil Ahmad Ganie S/o Ab Rashid R/o Kanlibagh & Mehraj-ud­-Din Sheikh S/o Mohammad Sultan Sheikh R/o Sangri Colony Baramulla who were travelling on a Motor Cycle bearing registration number JK05E-8026 which was also seized, Police in it’s statement further said that during searches 60 grams of Charas was recovered from possession of the above named accused who were shifted to police stations where they remain in custody.
In another similar action Police said that a Police party of PS Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Stadium Colony Baramulla intercepted a vehicle (Verna) bearing registration number JK05H-0916 driven by Mohd Rafeeq Lone S/o Mohd Yousuf Lone R/o Nadihal Baramulla, adding therein that
during searches 101 bottles of Q-Qurex & Torvirex was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. “Vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized. Pertinently, he was the most wanted drug smuggler of Baramulla area”, reads further the police statement.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that a drug peddler identified as Aadil Naseer Dar S/o Naseer Ahmad Dar R/o Seer Jagir alongwith 5 grams of Brown Sugar was arrested during the investigation of a drug peddling case of PS Pattan, adding therein that in a similar action in Bandipora, a police party at a checkpoint established at Najin Nowgam intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05A-0370 driven by Ab Majeed Dar S/o Mohd Qasim Dar R/o Nooripura Budgam and police during searches recovered 7.1 Kgs of Charas Powder from the possession of the above named accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. “Vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized”, reads the Police statement further.
Stating that it has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated,Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement urged people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reassured the people to act tough against the criminals as per law.
