Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested 11 persons and also seized 13 vehicles in Budgam & Awantipora on charges of involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals case.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Budgam during patrolling at Mirgund Crossing arrested 4 persons and seized 6 vehicles (tippers) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, adding therein that drivers arrested were subsequently identified as Mohd Ayoub Dar S/o Ghulam Hassan Dar & Nazir Ahmad Dar S/o Ghulam Ahmad Dar residents of Patwaw Budgam, Adil Ahmad Lone S/o Bashir Ahmad Lone R/o Huroo Budgam & Firdous Ahmad Pal S/o Bashir Ahmad Pal R/o Sheikhpora Budgam.
In a similar action in Awantipora also Police in the above referred statement said that a Police party headed by SHO Police Station Awantipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti arrested five persons and seized five vehicles (tippers) involved in illegal extraction of sand at Aghanjipora and Hatiwara, adding therein that similarly, a Police party headed by Incharge Police Post Reshipora have arrested 2 persons and seized two vehicles (01 Loader, 01 tipper) involved in illegal extraction of sand at Datpora Dogripora.
Stating that it has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated,
Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement said that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
