Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested two gamblers and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that acting on specific inputs about gambling activities in Khar Check Shar Shali Khrew, a police party of Police Station Khrew headed by SHO PS Khrew under the supervision of SDPO Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad raided the specific site and arrested 2 gamblers on the spot who were identified as Tawseef Ahmed Wani S/o Gh Nabi Wani @Seepa R/o Ladhoo and Bilal Nazir Bhat @Veerapan S/o Nazir Ahmed Bhat R/o Shar Shali.
Stating that stake money of Rs. 20,100/- and playing cards were also seized from the gamblers, Police in it’s statement further said that the accused have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Police in it’s statement also said that it has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 27/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Khrew and investigation has been taken up.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police said that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
