Srinagar : National Conference Member Parliament from Anantnag Hasnain Masoodi on Thursday sought regularization and integration/absorption of Seasonal Centre teachers with the School Education Department.
According to a statement issued here, Masoodi wrote to the LG Manoj Sinha, bringing to his notice the plight of 1869 teachers working in 1521 Seasonal Centers set up in different districts of J&K for migratory tribal population. “The migration adversely affects education of the children of the Community. The Seasonal Centre teachers, belonging to the ST community, have been demanding their regularization for more than a decade. A large number of these seasonal teachers, it is pertinent to point out, are tribals. The centers were set up taking cognizance of the grave problem of annual migration and to ensure that the children get education without any interruption.”
The Seasonal Centre teachers are disengaged after six months and rendered jobless for rest of the year, he noted saying, “This apart, the teachers are paid a meagre amount of Rs.10,000 pm for the period they serve in the Seasonal Centers.”
He further expanded that the matter was also raised in Lok Sabha by him to invite attention of the Government to their hardship. “I understand that matter was also discussed in a meeting of the School Education Department held on 15.02.2023 under the Chairmanship of Advisor. However, the grievance remains to be redressed. I would request regularization and integration/absorption of Seasonal Centre teachers with the School Education Department of the respective districts so that the teachers discharge their duties in the regular schools of the respective districts and are deployed to the Seasonal Centers on migration of the tribal population. This will resolve the genuine and long pending demand of the Seasonal Centre teachers,” he said.
