CUK to take immediate reforming measures on academics, research & allied fronts: Prof. A Ravinder Nath

Ganderbal : Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Vice Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath on Wednesday said the varsity will take immediate progressive and reforming measures on academics, research, admission and curriculum framework front and will become a model institution in coming years.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office Central University of Kashmir “the university will provide conducive environment and state-of-the-art laboratories and Information Technology Infrastructure for the students and scholars to pursue higher education and research respectively and will ensure other facilities to them,” Prof. A Ravinder Nath said, while chairing the meeting of the Heads and Coordinators of all the departments at Green Campus here. Dean School of Media Studies, Prof. Shahid Rasool (special invitee), other functionaries of the university were also present on the occasion.
Sharing his broader vision about the university, Prof. Ravinder A Nath, asked the faculty members to come up with a prospective plan for another 15 years of their respective departments so that work on them would be taken up accordingly. Earlier this week, the CUK VC held a meeting with the Deans of Schools and discussed various issues related to academics, research, and organising of academic activities during the current academic session.
In today’s meeting, Prof. Narinder A Nath, discussed the issues about Curriculum and Credit Framework for Undergraduate Programmes (CCFUP), ongoing admission processes for the integrated and post graduate programmes through the Central University Entrance Test (CUET), examinations, skill based courses identified/proposed by each department, Multidisciplinary/Interdisciplinary/Value added courses proposed by departments under NEP-2020, innovative academic initiatives -proposed/suggested by departments/schools, creation of a Uniform Academic calendar -including Exams/Summer and Winter breaks etc, issues concerning/confronted by departments in the teaching learning process- space/equipment/seating arrangements/materials etc., budget provisions for Extension Lectures/seminars/workshops/conferences/ field and industrial visits.
The Vice-Chancellor asked the participants to send proposals along with budgetary details for organising international and national level workshops, conferences and seminars and assure them that such activities would be a regular feature of the university. He said the career progression of the faculty members would be encouraged and the university would ensure their participation in academic conferences and activities conducted by the sister universities.
He said the university has already started implementation of the NEP-2020 and the departments have been instructed to follow it in letter and spirit. Prof. A Ravinder Nath advised the Heads and Coordinators of the Departments to encourage the faculty members to apply for grant of research projects from the government departments and institutions of higher learning conducting research on various issues, adding the research conducted by the scholars should also have local relevance and should help in mitigating the sufferings of the masses. He laid stress on the launch of skill and innovative courses in all the disciplines.
The participants assured the Vice-Chancellor of realising his vision and taking the university to newer heights. They further assured the Vice-Chancellor of making the Central University a role model for other institutions of higher learning.
