Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has arrested three drung peddlers including two women in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by Incharge Police Post Mirgund under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohammad Nawaz at a checkpoint established Chenabal Pattan intercepted a vehicle (Load Carrier) bearing registration number JK01N-8052 who tried to flee but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during searches 5Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance was recovered from the said vehicle and the accused drivers identified as Aadil Ahmad Budha S/o Mohd Shafi Budha R/o Sher Colony Sopore involved in the commission of crime was also arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. “The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized”, the Statement reads.
Stating that in a similar actions officers led by SHO PS Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Sajjad Bukhari during patrolling near R&B office Baramulla intercepted three suspicious ladies who tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully, Police in it’s statement further said that during searches 200 grams of Charas like substance were recovered from their possession and all the accused persons were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Police in it’s statement also said that it has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at respective police station and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police urged people to share information regarding these incident with their nearest police unit. Police on this occasion appealed people to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reassured them to act tough against the criminals as per law.
