Police seizes 11 vehicles, arrests 10 persons in Kulgam & B’gam involved in illegal extraction & transportation of minerals

Srinagar : Police on Sunday said that it has seized eleven vehicles and also arrested 10 persons in Kulgam and Budgam districts for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Kulgam, a police party headed by IC PP Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Mirbazar seized four vehicles and arrested four persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from nallahs especially from Veshaw Nallah, adding therein that the accused have been identified as Mohd Rafiq Bhat S/o Abdul Khaliq Bhat R/o Qaimoh, Shabir Ahmad Ashwar S/o Abdul Salam Ashwar R/o Qaimoh, Jahangir Ahmad S/o Abdul Salam R/o Devsar and Prince S/o Ashwani Kumar R/o Tawara Punjab. Stating that in a similar action in Budgam district also, Police Station Beerwah received inputs about illegal extraction of soil from Government land in Bunhama village following a police party of Police Station Beerwah raided the specific location and seized 7 tippers and arrested 6 persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of soil, Police in it’s statement further said that the said accused have been identified as Muzaffer Ahmad Sofi S/o Mohd Maqbool Sofi R/o Batapora Budgam, Zubair Ahmad Wani S/o Abdul Khaliq Wani R/o Gampora, Kumail Hussain Wani S/o Fayaz Ahmad Wani R/o Poonchgund, Wilayat Hussain Lone S/o Ali Mohd Lone R/o Poonchgund, Bilal Ahmad Wani S/o Bashir Ahmad Wani R/o Sarthpora, Anayat Hussain Wani S/o Mohd Bakir Wani R/o Sarathpora Budgam.
Stating that it has accordingly registered cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, Police in it’s statement further said that all the detained persons have been shifted to police stations where they remain in custody.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
