Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has seized 16 vehicles and also arrested 16 persons in Awantipora for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals case..
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Sub Division Pampore, two Police Parties headed by SHO Police Station Khrew and SHO PS Pampore under the supervision of SDPO Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad arrested 13 persons and seized thirteen vehicles (11 tippers & 02 Dumpers) involved in illegal extraction of minerals at Bathen, Wuyan, Litterabal and Samboora.
Stating that similarly in Sub Division Awantipora also, two Police Parties headed by I/C SHO Awantipora and Incharge Police Post Toll Plaza Chersoo under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti arrested three persons and seized three vehicles (3 tipper) involved in illegal extraction of sand at Hatiwara and Kachkoot, Police in it’s statement further said that it has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per lawand also appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
