Srinagar : An international webinar on “Key emerging technologies in the clean energy transition” was organized by the department of Electrical Engineering, School of Engineering and Technology, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri on 7th, April, 2023.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office BGSBU here, Prof. Akbar Masood, Vice-Chancellor, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University applauded the department of Electrical Engineering for organizing this webinar. Prof. Akbar said there is a need to remain informed about new clean energy technologies. This will be useful for all the stakeholders to understand why there is growing need of clean technologies and its subsequent benefits.
Prof. Iqbal Parwez, Dean Academic Affairs congratulated the department for organizing the event. He urged upon the faculty members and students to come up with cutting edge research for the greater benefits of the society.
Principal SoET, Dr. Vishal Puri appreciated the department for organizing this event. He said Renewable energies are sources of clean, inexhaustible and increasingly competitive energy which need to be harvested efficiently.
Head, Electrical Engineering Dr. Shafqat Mughal provided the welcome address and introduced the guest speaker. During his talk, He briefed the participants that the transition to an energy system based on clean energy technologies will have very positive economic consequences on the global economy and on development. Clean energy development is vital for combating climate change and limiting its most devastating effects.
Dr. Mohd Tariq (faculty/Post-doctoral researcher Florida International University USA) was the key note speaker. In his presentation he elaborated on the role of clean energy sources in meeting the growing energy demand worldwide. He spoke about the various government initiatives to reduce the Co2 concentration involving solar energy. The indigenous nature of clean sources gives local economies an advantage and brings meaning to the term “energy independence”.
The program was coordinated by Dr. Ahmed Riyaz (Assistant Professor, Electrical) who also presented the vote of thanks at the end of the webinar. Faculty members, Non-Teaching Staff, Research Scholars and Students actively participated in the event. This program was conducted in both online and offline modes.
