Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has seized four vehicles and also arrested four persons for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district .
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by In-charge Police Post Mirbazar during patrolling on Srinagar-Jammu highway arrested four persons (drivers) and seized four vehicles (02 Dumpers, 01 Tipper and 01 Tractor) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, adding therein that the accused have been identified as Umar Ali Masegar S/o Ali Mohammad Masegar R/o Mattan, Tahir Ahmad Dar S/o Mohammad Yousuf Dar R/o Awgam, Dalawar Ahmad Bhat S/o Ghulam Mohi-u-din Bhat R/o Akhram and Shabir Ahmad Bhat S/o Gull Mohammad Bhat R/o Nippora who were shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that it has accordingly registered a case FIR No. 56/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated, Police in the concluding para of the above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
