Srinagar: Senior pro freedom leader and religious head Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Saturday castigated government for detaining Joint Resistance Leadership. He said that JRL was put behind the bars to stop them from exposing NIA drama in Kashmir.
“Yasin in jail,Geelani sb & myself house arrested, roads leading to our homes sealed, curfew imposed, just to stop us from exposing the NIA drama!,” tweeted Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Saturday.
The leaders were scheduled to fly to New Delhi to stage a sit-in outside NIA headquarter and court arrest there.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Ali Geelani were placed under house arrest while Yasin Malik was arrested and shifted to Central Jail Srinagar by authorities.
Meanwhile, normal life was paralyzed in old Srinagar city due to curbs and restrictions imposed by the government. The restrictions remained in vogue in areas falling under the jurisdiction of six police stations including Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowhatta, Maisuma, MR Gunj and Safakadal.
JKLF stages protest in Srinagar against detention of Joint leadership
Srinagar: Scores of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leaders on Saturday staged a protest against the detention of Joint Resistance Leadership in Abi Guzar area of Srinagar.
While JKLF Chief Yasin Malik was arrested and shifted to Central Jail, Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq were placed under house arrest. Geelani, Mirwaiz and Malik were scheduled to fly to New Delhi Saturday and stage a sit-in outside the NIA headquarter and court arrest there.
