Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has arrested 13 persons on charges of involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and also seized 13 vehicles involved in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar police said that while acting on specific inputs about illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Raswat & Mandakpal., a police party of PS Khrew headed by SHO PS Khrew conducted the raids on specific locations and seized 11 vehicles (tippers) loaded with illegally extracted stones & arrested 11 persons on the spot.
Stating that in Baramulla district also, a police party of PP Palhallan seized 2 tractors and arrested 2 drivers at Dargam Nallah Palhallan who were involved in illegal extraction & transportation of minerals, adding therein that the accused have been shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Police in it’s statement also said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigation into the mater has been also initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and subsequently appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
