Police organises anti-drug awareness Progs/Nukkad Nataks in Kulgam, Gbl

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday organised Nukkad Nataks/anti-drug awareness programmes in Kulgam and Ganderbal districts.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarter Srinagar in Kulgam, Nukkad Natak shows were organised in the district with the main motive and aim to create mass awareness among general masses especially among youth of the district on drug abuse that has engulfed our society. The programme is being conducted under the aegis of SSP Kulgam Sahil Sarangal. In the event, various artists of the district participated in the said events & hundreds of spectators witnessed the shows. The artists & students through their performances sent the message to the people to refrain themselves from the menace of drug abuse.
The programmes witnessed an overwhelming response from general public especially from youth. During showcasing, the artists gave a concrete message through their performances to stop drug abuse. The actors/artists presented the different situations (Nukkad Nataks) on drug awareness in order to educate/aware the people about hazardous/ill effects of drug abuse and showed how the menace of drugs has destroyed many precious lives. The audience appreciated the Police for its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society. Meanwhile, as the police has taken the initiative under Civic Action Programme to help those institutions where orphans, poor and needy students are receiving education, in this regard a cheque of Rs 3 lakh was presented to such institutions as well.
Meanwhile in Ganderbal also, on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar, Seminars, awareness programmes & Nukkad Nataks were organised on the theme “Drug Free Society/Drug De-addiction” across the District. The events were organised at Sheikh-ul-Alam Public School Kangan, Govt. Hr. Sec School Kullan & Public Higher Sec. School Watlar. The said events were Chaired by Addl. SP Feroz Yeyha, SDPO Kangan Muzaffar Jan & DySP Hqrs Ganderbal Gh Hassan in their respective sub divisions. The events were also attended by Teachers, respectable Citizens, Students & the general public.
Speaking on the occasion Addl. SP Ganderbal & SDPO Kangan stated that the co-operation of the people is very pivotal to eradicate the severe menace of drugs from the society. They further added drug addiction is a social crime & stressed upon the participants to share all information related to drugs & its peddling in the area with concerned Police units, so that Police can act strictly against them. Moreover, SDM Kangan Javid Ahmad also spoke about the psychological and social aspects of drug addiction & asked the students to avoid this severe menace, as it can destroy our future generations & precious human lives. He encouraged the participants to take the addicted persons to drug rehabilitation centres, so that timely treatment can save their lives. Moreover, Teachers, Students & other dignitaries also throw light on this burning issue by delivering speeches. The artists also displayed Nukad Nataks, cultural skits, folk songs & Drama Shows, in which a concrete message was given to the participants to refrain themselves from Drugs & led healthy life. At the end, trophies & cash rewards were distributed among the students & artists for showcasing their talents and giving the message ‘Say no to drugs, Yes to life’.
