7 drug peddlers arrested in Bla, Contraband substances & cash recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police in Baramulla on Tuesday said that it has arrested seven drug peddlers including a lady drug peddler in various actions and recovered contraband substances & cash from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of PS Sheeri at a checkpoint established at Sheeri Market arrested three (3) drug peddlers identified as Zubair Ahmad Pandith S/o Mohd Hayat Pandith R/o Gantamulla Payeen, Waheed Bashir Lone S/o Bashir Ahmad Lone & Mushtaq Ahmad Lone S/o Ali Mohd Lone, both residents of Fatehgarh Sheeri, adding therein that during searches 63 grams of Brown Sugar were recovered from their possession and the all the above named accused have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that in another similar action, a police party at a checkpoint established at Boniyar intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05L-3829 with four (4) persons on board identified as Ikhlaq Mir S/o Ahmad Mir, Kabir Ahmad Awan S/o Muzaffar Ahmad, both residents of Daragutliyan, Abdul Qayoom Khan S/o Sarfaraz Ahmad R/o Bela Salamabad and Muneeba Younis D/o Mohammad Younis Sudan R/o Uranbowa, Police in it’s statement further said that during searches 60 grams of Heroin and cash amount of Rs. 50,000/-(proceeds of narcotic crime) was recovered from their possession following which the said accused have been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized. Police in it’s statement also said that cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, adding therein that efforts are on to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
